As we continue our Bible Study of the Gospel of Luke we will examine the historic text to both understand it’s original context and to listen for how it might speak to us today in our present circumstances.
For Lesson 6, our text is Luke 23:50-24:53. So much of what happens in Luke, and in this final section, has to do with the idea of recognition - the characters recognizing what has happened to Jesus and to them, actually recognizing Jesus himself, and finally recognizing who they are to Jesus, to God and to each other. And by extension, we the readers of Luke, recognizing who we are to Jesus, to God and to each other.
Perhaps that was the evangelist’s point all along.
