Palestinian Aid Benefit Concert

  • Logan Square Comfort Station 2579 North Milwaukee Avenue Chicago, IL, 60647 United States (map)

Kimball Avenue UCC is joining other churches and organizations in co-sponsoring a benefit concert in support of the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund on August 1, 2021 at the Logan Square Comfort Station, 2579 N. Milwaukee. The concert, organized by a member of Kimball Avenue, begins at 3:00 pm.

The purpose of the concert is to raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza following the bombardment by Israeli military forces and to support medical aid for children and families who have been injured and traumatized by the events.

While the conflict in the Middle East is often framed politically for us, the reality is that several million people in Gaza are suffering. Gaza already had the highest rates of unemployment in the world, and after the bombings, thousands of families are homeless, the medical infrastructure in in ruins and basic necessities are cut off. The United Nations estimates that 84% of Gaza residents are in need of humanitarian aid at this time. As Kyle Gilbertson, organizer of the event, reminds us: this is not about politics, but about our faith. Following in Jesus’s footsteps means taking action on behalf of our sisters and brothers who are suffering.

Please note: The concert is outdoors. In case of rain, the concert will be held on Sunday, August 8, at 3:00 pm.
