Today we celebrate Juneteenth and Father’s Day! Juneteenth – also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, and Emancipation Day – is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States.

While Juneteenth is first a celebration by African Americans of an event that occurred more than 150 years ago, it is also an opportunity for the church to affirm our commitment to working for justice and equity for all.
