Clearly wilderness survival will require more than vague desire to be free. A community must be created to embody, protect, and dignify freedom. One person can’t do that alone. As we often hear, it takes a village to generate and maintain progress. Moses learns this lesson at a pivotal moment—just before a new covenant sets the community in order. (Ex. 18-19)
