The Divine Encounter (Job 38-40:5)

After so much wondering about where God is and what God’s up to, God finally shows up. But, as much as it might offend our genteel sensibilities, the Divine seems disinclined to ease Job’s troubled mind. Instead, we get a brutal clash of two freedoms: human perspective and divine prerogative. God has plenty in mind. Job’s attempts to reply are futile.
