Hagar from a womanist perspective: Adult Education

Join us for Adult Education as we dive into the study of Hagar and wrestle with the text from a womanist perspective. Womanism is a social theory based on the history and everyday experiences of women of color and black women specifically. It seeks, according to womanist scholar Layli Maparyan, to "restore the balance between people and the environment/nature and reconcile human life with the spiritual dimension. Hagar as an African woman is resisting oppression and enslavement yet even through her journey in the wilderness has a spiritual experience and encounters God. The focus text is Genesis 16.
